It's tradition for Doctor Who to have a special holiday episode, and this year it seems they're bringing back Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) for Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks as a gift for the fans.
Captain Jack is a fan-favorite character so beloved that he actually got his own spin-off series in Torchwood, so he hasn't been involved with Doctor Who proper for nearly a decade, hence his gleeful reaction at hearing the sounds of the TARDIS once again. Since the Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) is currently in space prison, it may just be up to Captain Jack to save the day from a dangerous plot involving the sinister Daleks.
Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks will air sometime in December on BBC America.
