Universal TV has won the rights for Handler's bestselling book, Life Will Be The Death Of Me, that was published April 9 by Penguin Random House. Handler will serve as an executive producer. This will be the second TV series adaptation of a Handler book. Handler’s 2008 bestselling book, Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea was turned into the short-lived 2012 NBC sitcom Are You There, Chelsea? starring Laura Prepon as "Chelsea Newman." That book was based on Handler's early 20s. Life Will Be The Death of Me, in contrast, tells “the funny, sad, super-honest, all-true story of Chelsea Handler’s year of self-discovery—featuring a nerdily brilliant psychiatrist, a shaman, four Chow Chows, some well-placed security cameras, various family members (living and departed), friends, assistants, and a lot of edibles.”
