Lovato has exited their leading role on the NBC comedy pilot, about a group of friends who belong to a food issues group, just as it was about to start production. Lovato has been attached to star in Hungry, created by Suzanne Martin and directed by James Burrows, since January 2021. Lovato will remain an executive producer along with their manager Scooter Braun. "The role is being recast, with the goal to have a replacement shortly so the pilot stays on schedule," reports Deadline's Nellie Andreeva. "According to sources, Lovato bowed out as an actor due to scheduling issues." Valerie Bertinelli, Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, Ryan McPartlin, Alex Brightman and Ashley D. Kelley also star on Hungry. On Andy Richter's The Three Questions podcast earlier this week, Bertinelli spoke glowingly of the prospect of working with Lovato, playing the mom of their character.
