The acting CBS CEO's connection to Moonves was seen as a liability in him permanently ascending to the top job at CBS. But CBS has continued performing well under Ianniello's leadership, so he'll stick around as chairman-CEO of CBS under the newly formed ViacomCBS, at least through 2021. Still, Ianniello is losing oversight of Showtime, Pop TV, Smithsonian Channel and publisher Simon & Schuster. CBS chief creative officer and Showtime CEO David Nevins will now report to ViacomCBS president and CEO Bob Bakish.
