McBride's departure from the untitled series was initially reported as being for creative reasons. But in an updated post, TVLine reports that the untitled series, which will now focus on Norman Reedus' Daryl, will be filming in Europe. "Relocating to Europe became logistically untenable for Melissa at this time. We know fans will be disappointed by this news, but The Walking Dead Universe continues to grow and expand in interesting ways and we very much hope to see Carol again in the near future," said an AMC spokesperson. As Pajiba's Dustin Rowles points out, The Walking Dead: The World Beyond had a post-credits sequence that "strongly suggests that (Daryl) will be contending with the Black Summer zombies in France. As it is being shot in Europe, there will obviously be an opportunity to bring in Andrew Lincoln, who left The Walking Dead in the ninth season so he could be closer to his family in the UK. A European setting would allow Lincoln to stay close to home and re-enter The Walking Dead universe, which could either set up a Rick Grimes movie or be made in lieu of one since there has not been any public activity on the movie in at least a year."
