Hangout comedies about a group of friends "who genuinely care for one another attempting to solve the impenetrable riddle known as 'emerging adulthood'" are becoming extinct, says Josh Sorokach. New Girl inherited the "hangout" mantle from How I Met Your Mother. But there's no obvious successor to the Fox comedy.
