After airing the The Comedy Store-inspired dramedy I'm Dying Up Here for two seasons, Showtime has ordered a four-part docuseries telling the story of the iconic comedy club. Mike Binder will direct the docuseries scheduled to air in 2020. The Comedy Store has helped launch numerous big names, including, most famously, David Letterman, Richard Pryor, Jay Leno and Robin Williams. "The Comedy Store is a magical place — it's Juilliard for stand-up comics, the Bolshoi Ballet of comedy," said Binder, a former standup comic and Comedy Store alum. "It's an honor for me to be able to return home to my roots, and I am so grateful to be able to tell this remarkable story."
