Brooke Baldwin began Tuesday's edition of CNN Newsroom with this announcement that she will be leaving the network in April.
She recounted her dreams to be a correspondent with her "hometown team" of CNN as a native of Atlanta, her accomplishments and the stories she's covered, and her recent bout with the coronavirus. She also thanked her staff and her extended CNN family.
"The next chapter of my life will be focused on what I love most about my work," she said. "Amplifying the lives of extraordinary Americans and putting my passion for storytelling to good use."
She plugged the upcoming book she's been working on for the last two years, and said "there's more I need to do outside of this place, outside of the walls of this place, a place I have been privileged to call home now for 13 years."
She also admitted that she doesn't have another job lined up and that she's feeling "very vulnerable, but what is it Brené Brown says? Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity, and change."
CNN Newsroom with Brooke Baldwin airs weekdays at 3:00 PM ET on CNN.
