In anticipation of Dave Chappelle hosting Saturday Night Live tonight, take a look back at the show that made him a star.
His sketch comedy on Chappelle's Show broke ground, and its massive success kind of broke Chappelle himself for a while, since he abruptly left the show after the second season citing burnout, stress, and creative concerns, and wound up returning to focus on his stand-up career. Yet, the show left an indelible mark and gave us some very memorable characters, like Rick James, Prince, Tyrone Biggums, and Clayton Bigsby, the blind Klansman who had no idea he was black.
Chappelle's Show ran from 2003 - 2004 on Comedy Central, and is now streaming on Netflix.
Andy Hunsaker has a head full of sitcom gags and nerd-genre lore, and can be followed @AndyHunsaker if you're into that sort of thing.
