The actress and singer will star in and executive produce Hungry, an NBC comedy project that veteran sitcom writer Suzanne Martin is writing. Hungry follows a group of friends who belong to a food issues group and help each other as they look for love, success and that one thing in the refrigerator that will make it all better. Lovato has spoken out about her past battles with an eating disorder. “My eating disorder kept me from going back to acting for years,” Lovato told Harper's Bazaar last year. “But I finally came to a place with my body where I thought, ‘Why am I going to let this stop me when it’s just my shell?’ ” she explains. “I’ve stopped letting my weight control my life.” If greenlighted, Hungry would be Lovato's first regular TV series role since she starred on Disney Channel's Sonny with a Chance from 2009 to 2011.
